About the species
The corn snake is a slender North American rat snake of pine woods, field margins, rocky hill sides and farm buildings from New Jersey south to the Florida Keys and west to Louisiana. It hunts rodents, birds and lizards by constriction, climbs well for a mostly ground-living snake, and is active at dawn and dusk while still basking openly in daylight.
